Connect a custom domain
Prepare a business domain for a Neartail website and verify its routing before sharing it with customers.
A custom domain gives customers a business-owned address for your website. It is a separate setup from choosing the website's near.tl name or creating a short link for a form.
Prepare the website
First create and review the site at its existing website address. Confirm its primary form, pages, catalog, and checkout work there. This makes it easier to tell a domain problem from a form or website-content problem.
You need access to the domain's DNS settings and permission to change them for the business. Decide whether you want a subdomain such as orders.example.com or another supported address.
Arrange the mapping
Use the custom-domain setup available for your account, or contact Neartail support with the requested domain and your existing website address. Obtain the DNS record type, name, and target required for that specific mapping before changing DNS.
Do not copy an IP address or DNS target from another customer's website. Keep unrelated records, such as the records used for business email, intact.
Verify before announcing the address
After the mapping is configured and DNS has updated:
- Open the requested address over HTTPS.
- Confirm the expected business name, pages, and images appear.
- Follow an order action and verify that the correct form opens.
- Check the same address from a phone and another browser session.
Keep the existing website address available while investigating a failed mapping. If the original address works but the custom domain does not, collect the exact hostname and error for support. See website and domain troubleshooting.
