Google Forms and Google Sheets

Understand Neartail's response destinations and choose the correct Sheets connection.

You can read submitted orders inside Neartail and connect them with Google tools. There are two Sheets paths to distinguish: the underlying Google Form's response spreadsheet and a Sheet linked from Neartail's report view.

Choose the connection that matches the data you want in Sheets.

Check which form you are using

Importing through the website makes a managed copy. Submissions through its customer link belong to that copy, rather than the original form you imported. Open the underlying form from Neartail so you connect the correct response destination.

Use Google Forms response syncing

  1. Open Responses → Google Forms.
  2. If Submit to Google Forms is displayed, use it to set up sending new responses there. Its help text describes sending new responses to Google Forms too. Follow the connection steps shown by your account.
  3. In the visual editor, Advanced setting → Advanced → Submit to Google Forms also exposes the forwarding setting. Save any change.
  4. Once connected, use View in Google Forms to open the underlying form.
  5. In Google Forms, open Responses → Link to Sheets and select a new or existing destination.

A linked Google Forms spreadsheet receives form responses through that connection. Check a new example submission and its row in the intended Sheet. A response already saved in Neartail does not establish that forwarding was enabled when it arrived; do not assume every earlier order has been backfilled.

Use a Neartail report connection

Open Responses → Google Sheets and choose Link to Sheets to work with the report's connection. Follow the destination choices shown by the interface.

Report output can be organized differently from the underlying form's response sheet. Check column names and whether the output contains response-level or product-level data before using it for fulfillment.

Choose a reliable business record

Keep the form, Sheet, and report clearly named. A copied weekly form may have a different connection from the previous week. Document which Sheet staff should use and keep its access appropriate to their work.

When rows are missing

First find the order in Neartail. Confirm the account, form, submission state, and timestamp. Then check the appropriate Google Forms forwarding or report connection. Avoid repeatedly submitting the same order while diagnosing a missing row. See missing orders or Sheets rows.
