Take canteen counter orders

Understand Neartail's canteen counter workflow, including customer selection, meal entry, payment, and sales reporting.

Online Canteen supports a staff-operated counter workflow. Staff identify the customer, select meals, and handle payment or an account balance. This is a different workflow from asking customers to submit a weekly preorder form.

Prepare the counter process

Before taking live orders, confirm the canteen's configured product menu, customer records, accepted payment routes, and policy for prepaid or running balances. Staff need to know which customers may order on account and when payment is required.

Use the Online Canteen product page and support to arrange access and the configuration appropriate to your operation. Card readers and contactless payment depend on the connected payment setup and suitable hardware.

Handle an order

The operational sequence is:

  1. Find the intended customer, or create the appropriate customer record if your canteen permits it.
  2. Browse categories or search the menu and add the required products to the cart.
  3. Review items, quantities, and the amount with the customer.
  4. Use the configured payment route or customer balance.
  5. Confirm the saved order and any resulting balance before serving the meal.

Check customer identity carefully when customers share a name. A correct meal charged to the wrong account creates a balance problem even if the order total is right.

Plan from sales

Use sales by product, customer, and period to understand what was sold. Compare the reporting period with the service period you are stocking for. Sales reports describe recorded transactions; they do not by themselves account for all waste or unrecorded consumption.

Continue with wallets and balances. For advance meal ordering, use the weekly meal prep workflow.
