Shipping and delivery fees
Calculate fixed or zone-based delivery fees and add them once to the order amount.
Collect the information required to choose the right delivery fee. For local businesses, a clear pickup-or-delivery choice and an explicit delivery area often work better than an unrestricted address alone.
Choose a fee rule
| Rule | Example |
|---|---|
| Fixed fee | The same fee for every delivery order |
| Zone-based fee | A different amount for each named delivery area |
| Quantity-based fee | A fee based on the ordered quantity |
| Free-delivery threshold | Waive the fee above the stated product subtotal |
| Pickup | No delivery fee for a collection order |
Explain the rule near the delivery question and show the resulting fee before submission.
Set up zone-based delivery
- Add a multiple-choice or dropdown question listing the supported delivery areas.
- Add a numeric calculated field for the delivery fee.
- Open that field's Answer → Calculate setting.
- Insert the area question with @ and configure the supported FEE function.
- Include the resulting fee in the final amount.
FEE(currency, question, value1, value2, ...) assigns amounts to the answer choices in their order. Check the mapping again whenever you reorder the choices. See the Neartail zone-fee guide.
Combine rules clearly
For free delivery above a threshold, state whether the threshold uses the product subtotal before or after discounts. Keep a pickup answer at zero fee where that matches your terms.
A zone selector calculates the chosen rule. It does not by itself validate that a street address belongs to that zone.
Review the order
Check every area, pickup, an empty selection, and both sides of a free-delivery threshold. Compare:
Products + delivery + tax − discount = final amount
Make the delivery area and address visible in packing or fulfillment output, so staff can act on the customer's selection.
