Collect payments
Turn on card, Apple Pay, PayPal, cash on delivery, or bank transfer payments on your Neartail order form.
Quick Answer
How do I accept payments on a Neartail form?
In the editor, select Enable in the Payments block at the end of your form, or open the Submit settings and choose Enable beside Do you want to collect payment. Neartail then lists automated payments such as cards through Stripe and PayPal, and manual payments such as cash on delivery and bank transfer. Turn on the ones you want and choose Save.
You can offer automated and manual methods together, and customers choose one when they order.
Choose your methods
| Automated payments | Manual payments | |
|---|---|---|
| Examples | Credit or Debit Cards, Apple Pay, Bancontact, iDEAL, PayPal | PayPal, Cash on delivery, Bank Transfer, Cheque |
| How customers pay | Through the provider, as part of ordering | Using your instructions, or when they collect |
| Who confirms it | The provider | You |
| Costs | Provider fees (shown as Stripe fee applicable) | Depends on the method and your bank |
The methods listed can differ between forms. Ours also listed Lydia, for example, so check your own list.
Turn on payments
Finish your menu first
Make sure your total is right, and that your currency is set.
Open Payments
Scroll to the end of the editor. In the block that says Payments disabled, select Enable. Then select Enable beside Do you want to collect payment?
Turn on your methods
Use the switches. For a card method, connect your Stripe account when asked. Dashboard opens Stripe, and Stripe fee applicable explains its charges. For automated PayPal, select Configure.
Choose Save
Until you finish setup, the editor shows Payments enabled, but not configured.
Test the whole flow
Place a test order and check the amount at the payment step. Use your provider's test mode if it has one.
What we tested
We confirmed the panel, its methods, and how to turn payments on and off. We didn't connect a provider or take a payment, so the provider's own screens may ask for more than this guide lists. Follow what they show, and contact support if a method you need is missing.
Check the amount you charge
If you added delivery, tax, or a discount, the amount to charge is the Net Amount, not the Order Amount. Always compare the amount at the payment step with the total on the form.
Fees, currencies, and countries are set by each provider, so check their current terms.
Write clear instructions for manual payments
Put these in your submit message and confirmation email:
- How much to pay, and in what currency.
- Where to send it.
- What reference to use, such as the order number.
- When it's due, and what happens if it's late.
Please transfer the amount shown on your order, using your order number as the reference. We'll confirm your pickup once it arrives.
Taking no payment online
Leave payments disabled if customers pay at pickup or you invoice later. Then say so clearly in your submit message, so nobody wonders whether they've paid.
