Hide products and track stock
Take a product off the menu, or set a stock count so it sells out automatically.
Quick Answer
How do I mark a product as sold out in Neartail?
To hide a product, turn off Show product on its card. To sell out automatically, open the product's gear, go to Advanced, tick Enable inventory, enter how much you have, and choose Save. It's marked Sold out when stock reaches zero. To stop all orders, use Close this form instead.
Three controls do three different jobs. Pick the one that matches what you want.
| You want to | Use | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Take one item off this week's menu | Show product off | Customers can't see it |
| Sell only what you have | Enable inventory | Sold out at zero |
| Stop all orders | Close this form | Customers see a closed message |
Hide a product
Select the product and turn off Show product at the bottom of its card. The product and its settings stay in your editor, so you can turn it back on next week.
You can do the same from the gear: open Advanced and choose Hide beside Don't show this product to users.
Set a stock count
Open the product's gear
Select the product, then the gear at the bottom of its card.
Tick Enable inventory on the Advanced tab
A field appears for how much you have. Its label follows your unit, such as Weight you have in stock.
Enter the amount and choose Save
The note Mark as Sold out, when stock goes to zero describes what happens next.
Don't rely on stock for tight limits
We haven't confirmed how stock behaves when two customers order the last item at the same moment, or whether it returns when you edit or trash an order. If you have very limited stock, check your count after changes and close orders early. Test with a real order, because previews don't reduce stock.
Stop all orders
Neartail closes a form when you turn it off yourself. It doesn't close automatically at a deadline.
Open form settings
Select the ⋮ on the form's title section and choose Advanced setting.
Open the Advanced tab
Turn on Close this form.
Tell customers what happens next
For example: Friday's orders are closed. Our next menu opens Monday. Choose Save.
Check the live link
Open your customer link and confirm it shows your message.
Put your deadline in the form's description so customers know it, and set a reminder to close the form at that time.
Using Submit to Google Forms?
Keep the underlying Google Form accepting responses, and close orders with Neartail's control. Closing the Google Form itself can stop new orders reaching it.
