Google Sheets
Understand the two ways to get Neartail orders into a spreadsheet, and choose the right one.
Quick Answer
How do I send Neartail orders to Google Sheets?
There are two routes. In Orders, open the Google Sheets view and choose Link to Sheets to send that report to a spreadsheet. Or turn on Submit to Google Forms so new orders also reach the underlying Google Form, then link that form to a sheet in Google Forms. Most businesses only need the first.
Your orders are already saved in Neartail. You only need a spreadsheet if your team works from one.
Which route to use
| Link a report | Forward to Google Forms | |
|---|---|---|
| Where you set it | Orders → Google Sheets → Link to Sheets | Orders → Google Forms → Submit to Google Forms |
| What you get | The report's columns | The form's responses, as Google Forms records them |
| Good for | Most businesses | Keeping your records in Google Forms |
| Then link a sheet in | Neartail | Google Forms |
Link a report to a sheet
Open the view
In your form, open Orders, then Google Sheets.
Choose Link to Sheets
Sign in to Google if you're asked, using the account that should own the sheet.
Choose a destination
Follow the choices on screen.
Place a test order and check the sheet
Find the new row before relying on it.
Forward orders to Google Forms
Turn it on
In Orders → Google Forms, choose Submit to Google Forms. You can also use the Submit to Google Forms switch in form settings, on the Advanced tab.
Open the Google Form
In form settings, on the Advanced tab, choose Launch beside Edit this form with Google Forms.
Link it to a sheet
In Google Forms, go to Responses and choose Link to Sheets.
Test with a new order
Check for the new row.
Earlier orders may not be copied
Don't assume orders received before you connected a sheet will appear in it. Check for a recent test order and an older order separately, and export the older ones as a CSV if you need them.
What we tested
We confirmed where these controls are and how they're labeled, but we didn't complete a Google sign-in or check a row arriving for this guide. Follow what your account shows, and test before relying on it.
Imported forms
If you imported a Google Form, Neartail works on a copy. Your original form won't get new orders, and a sheet linked to it won't either. Connect the copy instead.
Keep it clear for your team
- Name the form and the sheet so they obviously match.
- A copied weekly form may need its own connection, so check after you duplicate.
- Decide which is the source of truth. We recommend Neartail, with the sheet as a copy for working in.
